Toni Walker (Toe Knee)

Brooklyn, New York
I am a New York City-based performer and installation artist. I work across movement, sound, and sculpture to build performance systems that examine how privacy and intimacy shift across contexts. These systems are structured through relationships between bodies, materials, and audience presence.  My approach is informed by embodied knowledge and how our bodies and nervous systems learn to transmute through contexts of forced displacement.

Over the past two years, I have collaborated with Young Boy Dancing Group on performances and installations for Bárbara Sánchez-Kane, Kurimanzutto, Dover Street Market Paris, Pioneer Works, Purple Magazine, and Dripping.fyi. Individually, I completed a pole residency at XO Pole Studio in Hong Kong and presented new work in Tokyo with EG Japan. In NYC, I created WOVEN, a fundraising performance art event supporting Congo, Sudan, and Haiti, where I premiered my first solo work, WOVEN.
